Exploring Ulaanbaatar city/ Day trip
TRIP SUMMARY
3-5 hours is recommended for an in-depth day with visits inside two or three of the most must see sites such as Central Square, Chingis Khan’s statue, National History Museum, Gandan Monastery and Fine Arts Museum. For the first time visitors seeing all the major above sites are suitable. For the repeating visitors explore the lesser-known sights in Ulaanbaatar such as Amgalan nunnery, ger districts, bow and arrow maker, musical instrument work shop, Gandan Monastery’s Fine Art school, Treasure room of State Library and much else. ITINERARY
In the morning, start driving to Ulaanbaatar (2 hours). We will make a short city tour including a stop at the towering hill of Zaisan Hill, this minor hiking is required to get into the top of Zaisan and see panoramic view of the city.
Then drive to downtown to visit Gandan Monastery which was the only one active temple during socialist era and since democracy system has arrived, it became the center of Mongolian Buddhism.
After exploring main temple at Gandan, we will visit the Art School of Buddhist University, next have lunch at Mongolian style restaurant.
Then we transfer to the National History Museum, the home of various collections of ethnic groups, after that visit to the Fine Arts Museum then take return drive to Terelj Hotel.
